- Perform highly complex ultrasound examinations, including examinations of abdomen, liver, renal, GYN, and small parts scanning, under general direction of supervising Radiologists
- Provide ultrasound-guided biopsies, including liver and renal biopsies of native and transplanted organs
- Perform computer work and required forms associated with patient exams, complications, and/or quality improvement activities
- Ensure quality assurance of images (positioning/label/technique/network information) prior to transmission
- Schedule exams in manner to optimize scanner times while maintaining flexibility for emergency cases
- Schedule patients for examinations and advise radiologists or referring physicians of examination results
- Set up ultrasound rooms ensuring sterile supplies, materials, and required equipment are present and properly arranged
- Archive and document procedures with proper image annotation, evaluation, and labeling for optimal demonstration of pathology
- Maintain accurate documentation in Electronic Health Records
- Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a Public Trust government security clearance
- Must be registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in Abdomen/Small Parts
- Currently hold at least two (2) certifications by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), such as RVT, OB/GYN, Musculoskeletal.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (renewed every 2 years)
- Minimum three (3) years of hospital experience within the United States
- Must have worked within a hospital setting as an Ultrasound Tech in the last six (6) months
- Must have worked within a hospital lab setting as a Vascular Ultrasound Tech in the last six (6) months
- Demonstrate expertise in ultrasounds of scrotum, pelvis, and ultrasound-guided biopsy procedures
- Strong patient care and communication skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting 100 pounds and carrying 44 pounds
- Rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, overtime and on-call
- Eight (8) hour shifts are five (5) days per week
- Nine (9) hour shifts are rotating four (4) day and five (5) day weeks
- Ten (10) hour shifts are four (4) day weeks
Overview
CVP is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to provide comprehensive ultrasound imaging services to our Nation's Veterans at the VA Portland Health Care System. You'll perform complex ultrasound examinations as part of a medical team, supporting critical diagnostic services for Veterans' healthcare needs.
As an Ultrasound Technologist, you will perform highly complex ultrasound examinations under the general direction of supervising Radiologists. You'll work with advanced imaging equipment and technology to provide critical diagnostic information that supports Veterans' medical care.
