What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Teach undergraduate courses, including Introduction to Chinese Cinema, Introduction to Chinese Cultural Studies, and Chinese Popular Culture.
- Develop and lead a first-year seminar on a topic of the candidate’s choosing.
- Provide effective teaching that engages students and promotes academic success.
- Mentor students and contribute to their academic development in Modern Chinese Studies.
- Collaborate with faculty and participate in departmental activities.
What is Required (Qualifications):
- A Master’s degree in a related field.
- Evidence of teaching competency in modern Chinese and/or Sinophone cultural studies.
- Ability to develop a first-year seminar on a topic of the candidate's choosing.
- Commitment to advancing academic excellence and supporting all learners.
- Willingness to work additional hours beyond the typical work week as needed.
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- A Ph.D. or ABD at the time the appointment begins.
- Previous teaching experience in higher education.
- Evidence of effective teaching and mentoring practices that enhance student success.
- Familiarity with Chinese film and popular culture studies.
