Department Overview:
Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is Madison’s public recreation provider. MSCR offers a wide variety of athletic, recreational, arts and enrichment activities and classes for all ages in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming instruction, MSCR on the Move, arts & enrichment classes, youth summer camps, sports camps & clinics, adult & 50+ fitness, adult sport leagues including pickleball, softball and tennis, and a wide variety of outdoor pursuits including paddling sports, pontoon trips, camping, orienteering and challenge courses.
As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), MSCR also provides afterschool enrichment activities, clubs and sports as well as summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools, Allied Learning Center and Meadowood Neighborhood Center. Afterschool clubs and sports include: arts & enrichment, homework/academic clubs, drama, dance, skiing, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country and much more!Anticipated Start Date

Up to 32 hours Schedule:
Work hours: Daytime (8:15am-12:30pm) and evening (4:45-8:30pm) weekday hours available (Monday-Thursday).
Program Dates: Mandatory training week, 6/16-20. Program dates, 6/23-8/14
Salary/Wage Range:

MSCR Tennis offers USTA beginner- and intermediate-level tennis lessons for youth in grades K-9 and for adults in a fun, recreational setting with a focus on sportsmanship.
Job Description & Duties:
• Implement appropriate structured tennis lessons for all participants, youth and adults.
• Teach basic rules and strategy of the game, as well as fundamental skills including racquet skills, strokes, grip and footwork.
• Maintain a safe, positive atmosphere for all participants.Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must have at least two summer seasons or one full school year of experience as a lead instructor (lesson planning, implementation, participant evaluation and correction).
• Experience playing tennis.
• Knowledge of tennis techniques, rules and strategy.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of youth and adults.
• Desire to work with youth in a recreational setting.
Preferred Qualifications:• Knowledge of USTA programs and curricula.
