      Reporting to the Associate Director, Sponsored Programs Accounting, the Sponsored Research Accountant is responsible for assisting with and executing all facets of bookkeeping and transaction recording in the GL system, monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statement closing and reporting processes, and assisting with the signature authorization process.

      Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

      • Ensure all tasks are performed timely, ensure progress against deadlines, and ensure accuracy of work performed.

      • Assist with and execute all facets of bookkeeping to ensure that accurate financial records are maintained including, but not limited to: manual journal entries and subsystem GL interfaces, recurring journal entries, analysis and posting of cost allocations, maintenance of multi-company GL structure, consolidation entries, maintenance of intercompany GL entries and execution of financial statement consolidation.

      • Assist with the financial statement closing process including: 1) maintenance of the monthly closing schedule, 2) follow-up on actions from financial review (variance) meetings, 3) maintenance of the quarterly GL account reconciliation process, 4) assistance with the disbursement of financial statement reports, and 5) other related items as determined necessary by the SPA lead and the Associate Director, Sponsored Programs Accounting.

      • Other items as necessary including: 1) internal and external audit assistance, 2) research into accounting matters, 3) administration of the signature authorization process, 4) other items and duties as requested

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      • Knowledge of US generally accepted accounting principles as acquired through the attainment of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance from an accredited college/university and at least 2 years of experience in general ledger maintenance as described above.

      • Prior experience within sponsored research, NIH grant experience highly preferred

      • Demonstrated experience with GL accounting systems; experience in multi-company GL maintenance and reporting is preferred.

      • Demonstrated experience in analyzing and interpreting financial data and assisting with the preparation of financial reports, statements and/or projections in an accurate and timely manner.

      • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with shifting responsibilities and priorities; ability re-prioritize efforts without losing sight of required outcomes.

      Pay Range: $55,429 - $92,802
