What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assist the Project Engineer in planning budgets, schedules, and workforce for transportation projects
- Certify compliance with WSDOT standards and policies in the absence of the Project Engineer
- Lead a team of engineers to deliver contract plans, specifications, and estimates
- Communicate project status and coordinate with stakeholders, local agencies, and the public
- Ensure projects are delivered in an environmentally responsible manner in line with applicable laws
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Washington State or ability to obtain licensure within six months of hire
- Extensive experience in transportation engineering principles, highway design, and construction practices
- Proven experience leading transportation projects through various phases including planning and construction
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects on time and within budget
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with WSDOT project delivery methods including design-build and design-bid-build
- Familiarity with Federal Highway Administration processes for federally funded transportation projects
- Knowledge of change management strategies and experience leading teams through transitions
