What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Analyze recipient activities and evaluate progress toward economic development goals
- Approve incentive awards to qualifying companies to reduce tax liabilities
- Advise businesses and local governmental agencies on statutory requirements and incentive agreements
- Compile and interpret data regarding economic development programs for management and external customers
- Assist in policy interpretation and decision-making regarding incentive programs
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major
- Minimum of one year of professional experience in economic or community development for the Economic/Community Development Analyst 10 level
- Minimum of two years of professional experience for the Economic/Community Development Analyst P11 level, including one year equivalent to the previous level
- Minimum of three years of professional experience for the Economic/Community Development Analyst 12 level, including one year equivalent to the previous level
- Experience in commercial financial analysis, marketing, or workforce development
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in the creation, financing, and operation of businesses
- Background in evaluating loan or grant applications
- Proficiency in Excel, especially with pivot tables
- Knowledge of Michigan's economic development programs and policies
- Familiarity with community and workforce development issues
