What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Engage in research and development activities, including reviewing existing techniques and developing new computing solutions
- Develop algorithms and software pertinent to the research area
- Run simulation codes and analyze results
- Collaborate with Sandia staff on research projects
- Assist in the publication of analysis and present findings to research teams
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Earned bachelor's degree
- Currently enrolled full-time in a graduate program in an accredited science, engineering, or math field
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
- U.S. citizenship, legal permanent residency, or refugee status in the U.S.
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Majoring in chemistry, computer science, engineering, mathematics, neuroscience, physics, statistics, or a related field
- Experience in software development and programming (C++, C, Fortran, Matlab, Java, Python)
- Knowledge of parallel programming techniques (e.g., MPI, OpenMP)
- Familiarity with mathematical modeling techniques (e.g., linear and integer programming, statistical modeling)
