      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Assist with the design and execution of fieldwork and research tasks, including aquatic fauna surveys and habitat assessments
      - Conduct statistical analysis of biological data and write technical reports
      - Develop and manage large-scale databases for multi-taxa and sampling-collection datasets
      - Perform freshwater mussel and fish surveys, particularly in the Upper Tennessee, Atlantic Slope, and New River drainages
      - Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure effective data collection and analysis

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - B.S. degree in fish and wildlife sciences or a comparable natural resources discipline
      - Considerable direct experience working on wildlife and natural resources field projects
      - Ability to swim and snorkel
      - Capability to carry heavy equipment and navigate through rough terrain and adverse field conditions
      - Experience using Microsoft Office applications, statistical computing software, and geospatial processing programs

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Experience with surveying and identifying freshwater mussel species in Virginia's Upper Tennessee River, Atlantic Slope, and New River drainages
      - Experience designing and leading mussel surveys using diverse sampling methods
      - Background in leading and supervising field teams during data collection
      - Proficiency in using fish collection equipment and various sampling methods (e.g., electrofishing gear, traps, nets, and seines)
      - Familiarity with large-scale database organization and management, as well as R programming for statistical analysis
