What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct initial concurrent reviews for selected admissions and clarify documentation as needed
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to ensure accurate principal and secondary diagnoses
- Document findings within the CDI software and update as required to reflect encounter status
- Educate peers and providers on CDI topics as needed or requested
- Review denials for accurate documentation and develop appeal letters when necessary
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN)
- Associate's Degree in a related field
- Experience in Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) and clinical bedside care
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare team members
- Proficiency in using CDI software and electronic health records systems
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting focused on clinical documentation improvement
- Familiarity with the EPIC electronic health record system
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Experience in conducting educational sessions for healthcare professionals
- Knowledge of healthcare coding practices and regulations
