      Job Overview

      Avantpage is seeking a highly skilled and independent Senior Accountant. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about building efficient systems and workflows.

      This position requires proven experience with QuickBooks Online, Project Accounting, and U.S. GAAP, along with the ability to take ownership of their assigned tasks. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in strengthening internal controls, improving accuracy and efficiency, and supporting the Head of Finance in month-end close and preparation of the monthly reporting package and quarterly financial presentations.



      Duties and Responsibilities

      Month-End Close & Reporting

      • Support Head of Finance in the monthly close process, ensuring journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules are completed accurately and on time.
      • Prepare and post journal entries, prepaid expense entries, and other adjusting journal entries in the G/L.
      • Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, AR, AP, prepaids, fixed assets, liabilities.
      • Prepare monthly budget-to-actual reports with variance analyses and management commentary.
      • Support the Head of Finance in preparing quarterly financial presentations and management reports.

      Corporate Credit Card & Expense Management

      • Administer the company’s corporate card program (Ramp), managing issuance, limits, and deactivations per internal policy.
      • Review, code, and classify transactions accurately across departments, classes, projects and GL accounts.
      • Ensure compliance with expense policies and timely receipt submissions.
      • Manage, triage and fulfill all Finance related purchase requests in Jira to ensure timely resolution and compliance with internal policies.

      Payroll

      • Review payroll entries for accuracy
      • Support in the set up and maintenance of payroll tax accounts in multiple U.S. states as new employees are added.

      Tax, Compliance & 1099s

      • Maintain documentation for Form 1099 filings, and IRS receipt compliance.
      • Support audit readiness by maintaining well-documented workpapers.

      Project Accounting & Process Improvement

      • Support project-level accounting by tracking costs, and ensuring accurate allocation of expenses across departments or projects.
      • Continuously identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
      • Maintain system integrity across QuickBooks Online, Ramp, Tipalti, and related platforms.
      • Develop and maintain internal SOPs and accounting workflows.

      Skills and Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
      • 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of month-end close.
      • Experience with QuickBooks Online, Project Accounting, and U.S. GAAP is required.
      • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data analysis).
      • Strong experience with account reconciliations and month end close.
      • Prior experience managing corporate credit card programs, purchase requisitions, expense classification.
      • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
