What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business in line with company guidelines and risk appetite
- Develop risk assessment models to inform coverage, pricing, and terms
- Collaborate with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to gather information and provide guidance
- Analyze supplementary reports and screenings to support underwriting decisions
- Communicate underwriting strategies and decisions effectively to internal teams and external partners
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related field
- Minimum of 9 years of experience in Underwriting or a related field
- Advanced knowledge of company policies and industry laws and regulations
- Strong analytical, risk assessment, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Progress toward professional designations such as Associate in Underwriting (AU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), or Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC)
- Familiarity with marketing strategies and tools
- Experience in coaching and performance management of team members
