      Role Summary

      High-level summary of the position with main purpose of the position and how it will be successfully accomplished:

      The Business Unit Head is responsible for both Sales and Marketing and championing cross functional team working with medical, market access and other functions as well as working closely with the Global/Regional team to help grow the AZ business. The role will have full profit and loss responsibility for financial results, sales targets and competitive performance. It will also work to transform and build the Business Unit providing vision, leadership, and entrepreneurial energy to make the most from the exciting opportunities and challenges ahead for AstraZeneca in specific therapy area and ensure AstraZeneca will be recognised as a credible partner and leader in the field of Oncology (Belgium & Luxembourg). The Business Unt Director will be accountable for attracting, developing, coaching and retaining diverse talent, and nurturing a psychological safe work environment.

      This role reports to the Belux Country President and is a member of the Belux Senior Management Team with shared responsibility for the leadership, business development and strategy of the whole organization.

      • Develop and articulate the strategic long-term vision of AZ brands, maintain a long term focus, identify marketed changes and new growth opportunities to maximise portfolio and brand potential
      • Build the Business Unit, implementing new business models as required, identifying required capabilities and leading transformation
      • Ensure market preparation and internal launch readiness for new upcoming launches
      • Build and maintain relationships internally (with global, region and local) and championing cross functional team working
      • Ensure that strong external relationships across KEEs, as well as other key stakeholders, are built and maintained
      • Manage and oversee the development of an effective brand strategy and marketing plan for all brands, and ensure successful operational execution across the market
      • Drive the transforming care strategy above brands ensuring all eligible patients are offered the best treatment option
      • Ensure constructive and productive collaborations in current and future alliances
      • Develop local business plan across the Oncology portfolio in line with global strategy and local needs;
      • Prepare sales forecasts and establish and implement sales targets
      • Lead and monitor product launches, tracking KPIs and budget implementation to ensure success
      • Develop the team; lead allocation and deployment of resources, drive talent development and performance management with a forward-looking view of future required capabilities including talent planning and capability assessments, coaching and mentoring direct reports, succession planning and oversight of recruitment
      • Install strong team dynamics enabling team members to work in a “Great place to work”
      • Manage operational sales & marketing budgets while keeping the helicopter view
      • Role model AZ values and comply with AZ internal policies

      Education, Qualifications and Experience

      Essential

      • Success leading a medium BU or complex sales organisation with P&L responsibility (or sales/cost budget)
      • Successful track record in commercial management (sales & marketing)
      • Solid experience in the Oncology therapy area, and/or other complex biologic products (in pharma or one of the leading biotech companies)
      • Track record of strong leadership and development of people and organisation
      • Experience in launching brands in specialty care
      • Attracted and developed High Potentials
      • Scientific credibility; built from formal education or practical experience and with local KEEs and other key stakeholders
      • Languages: Fluent French and/or Dutch and English

      Desirable

      • Existing network of the Belgian KEEs and other key stakeholders
