      Overview

      This position will serve as a civil engineer responsible for assisting US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), work will involve providing engineering guidance and input to new capital projects, structural drawing reviews, and the review of the work of other consultants and contractors. This individual will be supporting the life cycle planning and execution of the planning, design, construction, maintenance and repairs for facilities and infrastructure along the international borders of the United States.

      The candidate shall have strong communication skills, a demonstrated ability to deliver “innovative solutions” and possess the skill of “creative problem solving.”

      Responsibilities

      · Responsible for reviewing engineering designs, proposed installations, and in-place systems, infrastructure and facilities and providing associated recommendations.

      · Assists with planning, design review and construction oversight of IST's projects.

      · Supports the development and preparation of SOWs and cost estimates related to proposed engineering solutions; reviews the same from other stakeholders.

      · Interacts with other stakeholders, notably staff within IST Portfolio (both HQ and in the field), business partners (USBP, OFO, AMO) and other consultants and contractors.

      · Serves as a program expert and spokesperson for technical engineering and construction related issues with responsibility to present, explain, and defend to higher-level officials in CBP, DHS, and other government agencies and interested public groups

      · Maintains an ongoing, high-paced, book of work of engineering assignments and must maintain and report status on an ongoing list of assigned work.

      · Prepare and deliver reports, briefings, and other communication materials to share outcomes and results of various engineering efforts.

      Qualifications

      · 4+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

      · A current Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT preferred.

      · Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.

      · Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

      · Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders.

      · Ability to effectively solve problems.

      · Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

      · Available for approximately 20% travel.

      • All positions require eligibility to acquire CBP BI, for which you must be a U.S Citizen. Highly Preferred: Active U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) BI
      • This position is contingent upon completion of CBP BI and funding
