What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Provide one-on-one counseling to students and families regarding financial aid options and eligibility requirements
- Assist in completing financial aid forms, including FAFSA and other institutional documentation
- Evaluate and process financial aid applications in compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies
- Conduct workshops and presentations to educate students and families about financial aid opportunities
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and financial aid determinations using appropriate software systems
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School diploma (or GED) and one year of experience in financial aid or an Associate degree in a relevant field
- Minimum of one year of experience in data entry and professional customer service
- Must not currently be in default on any Federal Student Loans
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and maintain confidentiality
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and policies
- Proficiency with financial aid systems such as Anthology or PowerFAIDS
- One year of experience in a proprietary online higher education environment
- Ability to explain complex financial aid concepts clearly
- Experience in conducting entrance and exit interviews as required by Federal regulation
