      Position Purpose:

      • Responsible for supporting Tax Accounting and Tax Compliance (Tax Operations). Responsibilities include: assist in preparation of quarterly income tax provision; assist with month-end tax close; assist in preparation of tax work papers including calculation of M-1s; assist in preparation of domestic and foreign estimated tax payments/extensions; assist in preparation of quarterly REIT testing; prepare excise tax returns; assist in investigating and responding to all tax notices; research tax issues as needed; assist with tax depreciation maintenance; collaborate and work with external auditors and tax preparers as needed;


      Key Responsibilities:

      • 90% Tax Planning, Accounting, Research, Compliance, and Audit Defense as needed to meet the goals of the Department. May participate in one or more projects with governmental officials, outside counsel, and business partners. May participate in special studies to determine tax implications of company operations. May be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely filing of tax returns, and for the accurate statement of accounting reserves, including FAS 109 and FIN 48 where applicable. May serve as liaison between SSC and subsidiary businesses in the US and internationally.
      • 10% Participation in cross-functional teams.


      Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

      • Reports to Tax Manager
      • No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the technical leadership of a project work team: may select team members and assess capabilities, provide technical training, provide information necessary to meet work, project or program objectives, evaluate program or project performance.


      Travel Requirements:

      • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


      Physical Requirements:

      • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


      Working Conditions:

      • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.


      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
      • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.


      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree or professional certification preferred.
      • 1-3 years experience preferred.
      • Experience in accounting and income tax compliance preferred.
      • Experience with OneSource Tax Provision and OneSource Income Tax preferred.
      • Demonstrate technical tax skills appropriate for the years of experience in the one or more tax disciplines. Demonstrate interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects.


      Minimum Education:

      • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.
