What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct account research by contacting billing vendors and payers for verification of patient claim status and demographic information
- Prioritize workload based on aging reports, account balances, and priority accounts under management direction
- Pursue non-payment from third-party payors until resolved
- Ensure all Protected Health Information is kept secure at all times
- Resolve claim errors, demographic issues, duplicates, and no coverage errors in work queues
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of three to five years of hands-on experience in charge entry, registration, and customer service
- Strong knowledge of billing procedures, health plans, and claims processing
- Proficient in Word, Excel, and medical billing software (e.g., EPIC, Allscripts, McKesson)
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Understanding of medical terminology, including knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience billing Medicaid, Managed Care, BCBS, and Commercial accounts
- Preferred multi-state, multi-location billing experience
- Strong relationship-building skills and ability to relate well to individuals at various levels
