What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Collect information to draft legal pleadings for parent rights termination cases
- Collaborate with Assistant Attorneys General to resolve issues and move cases to resolution
- Draft and proof memoranda, briefs, and orders for termination litigation
- Prepare discovery requests and responses, assisting attorneys in investigations
- Schedule hearings and trial dates, and organize trial notebooks with relevant documents
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Combination of four years of experience through paralegal certification, a two-year paralegal degree, or paraprofessional experience in support of an attorney
- One year of experience as a Paralegal 1 in Washington State Service
- Proficient in preparing legal pleadings and managing case documents
- Strong research skills and ability to verify legal citations and references
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments and competing priorities
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in a legal setting, specifically within government or public service
- Familiarity with database and spreadsheet software for legal research and reporting
- Proven ability to contribute positively to a collaborative work environment
- Demonstrated initiative and integrity in previous roles
- Experience in proofreading legal documents for accuracy
