What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform diagnosis and procedural coding from medical record documentation
- Ensure claims are submitted correctly by applying knowledge of current coding and billing requirements
- Monitor coding and billing performance, resolving denials related to coding errors
- Educate providers and office staff regarding documentation, coding, and billing changes to ensure compliance
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate coding and efficient workflow
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Certified Coder through AAPC, AHIMA, BCHH-C, HCCS for Home Health, or National Healthcare Association
- Minimum of 0-2 years of related experience with a thorough understanding of medical records
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
- Basic computer and encoder skills, along with effective communication abilities
- Ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in coding for healthcare services, particularly in ambulatory settings
- Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and other relevant coding specialties
- Proven track record of resolving coding denials and improving billing processes
- Participation in continuing education seminars and workshops related to coding
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams
