What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct economic, financial, or policy research and analysis to support the Unit's position on major utility rate cases
- Provide technical assistance on regulatory matters and formulate recommendations
- Communicate the Unit's position to various stakeholders, including Deputy Attorney General and other government agencies
- Direct the work of professional and regulatory analyst staff on specific projects as needed
- Advocate for the citizens of Washington state in matters before the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in economics, accounting, business, public administration, finance, social sciences, engineering, law, or a related field
- Three (3) years of professional research or analysis experience in regulatory matters
- Clear, concise oral and written communication skills
- Ability to perform complex research and maintain multiple case assignments
- Experience collaborating with attorneys, analysts, and external experts
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Two years of experience as a Regulatory Analyst 1 or equivalent
- An advanced degree in a related field, which can substitute for one year of desired experience
- Familiarity with utility regulation and consumer protection issues
