What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review assigned claims and initiate documentation in the claim handling system
- Complete coverage analysis on complex claims and ensure all policyholder benefits are identified
- Conduct thorough investigations of claims to determine payment eligibility and evaluate financial loss
- Approve payments for appropriate parties and refer claims to other company units as necessary
- Document claim files and complete all closure activities in the claims management system
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Associate degree in business administration, insurance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Five years of experience in negotiating complex claim settlements and resolving coverage questions
- Must be eligible to acquire a State Adjuster's license within 90 days of hire if required
- Strong negotiation skills and advanced technical knowledge of relevant laws and claims procedures
- Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with insureds/claimants
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Completion of the Insurance Institute of America's General Insurance Program or equivalent
- CPCU coursework or designation
- Experience with subrogation claims and intercompany arbitration
- Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy
- Experience in handling attorney-represented claims
