What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Own the monthly close for payroll and related accounts, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Collaborate closely with Payroll Operations for accurate GL postings and issue resolution
- Design and operationalize SOX-compliant processes and controls for payroll accounting
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in payroll processes
- Provide technical accounting guidance on payroll-related matters and communicate impacts to stakeholders
What is Required (Qualifications):
- 5+ years of payroll accounting or GL accounting experience in a public or large private company
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP related to payroll, benefits, and stock-based compensation
- Hands-on experience with monthly close activities for payroll accounts
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets and experience with ERP and payroll/HRIS systems
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- CPA or equivalent professional accounting certification
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
- Experience in a high-growth, multi-entity, multi-state environment
- Background in accounting for equity-related payroll impacts
- Demonstrated results in process improvement initiatives
