Job Description

- Reads, writes, compiles, and updates technical documents, including descriptions, policies, processes, procedures, presentations, and learning solutions.
- Identifies gaps between documented user requirements and the functionality of software applications and recommends further software development or documentation and training.
- Ensures assigned projects and tasks remain on schedule.
- Designs and implements lifecycle for reviews, approvals, and edits, identifying and establishing process efficiencies for team members.
- Designs and documents current and new uses for content-management tools.
- Uses, adapts, and shares information architecture templates that uphold organizational and legal standards and allow for easy data migration.
- Writes, edits, and checks the quality of team documents using grammar and mechanics conventions documented in AP Stylebook and/or Chicago Manual of Style and the Bank’s style guide.
- Revises the Bank’s style guide based on feedback from team members.
- Assists team with researching and resolving issues or concerns. Escalates issues identified by team members to appropriate person beyond the team, when appropriate.
- Assists in training newly hired and other technical writers.
- Regularly exercises discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions, always following regulatory and Bank policy, procedures, and guidelines, including rules and regulations related to writing policies and procedures.
- Responds to requests in a timely manner.
- Maintains good punctuality and attendance to work.
- Knowledge of banking or finance within the scope of a technical writer.
- Ability to demonstrate exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with a keen eye for grammar, mechanics, and document design details.
- Ability to analyze the information needs of various audiences, synthesize relevant material from a variety of sources, and determine appropriate message and format for communication.
- Ability to navigate the workplace and interact with subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate practice into formal documents.
- Ability to effectively present information and facilitate group discussions.
- Ability to prioritize conflicting demands to meet deadlines, including tracking items waiting for follow-up and completion.
- Ability to work autonomously and maintain attention to detail.
- Ability to influence positive outcomes in team settings.
- Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels.

This position may be located in Dallas, TX, or Little Rock, AR.
The Senior Technical Writer will initially support the Bank’s Information Technology Division in their efforts to document quantitative models and software systems. The departments/verticals this role may support over time is subject to change based on business needs.
Job Purpose and Scope:
Supports various lines of business within the Bank by researching, developing, organizing, writing, and editing Bank policies, procedures, communications, and learning solutions. Responsible for advising Technical Writing team in areas of expertise.
