      Job Description

We are looking for highly potential Software Complexity Liaison (SWCL) to join our Vehicle Mechatronics Embedded Controls (VMEC) organization! The VMEC Complexity Liaison– Software & Services is a individual contributor role responsible for governing software complexity across embedded controllers and vehicle domains. The role focuses on software architecture and variant strategy, portfolio and roadmap management, and build/release complexity to enable predictable delivery, robust quality, and efficient reuse of software across programs. In addition, this highly collaborative position works closely with domain software leads, integration managers, system and software architects, DevOps/CI teams, and program management to define how software streams (branches) are structured, when new variants are justified, and how the overall portfolio is measured and continually simplified.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Drive SW stream and variant strategy for embedded controllers, ensuring branch/cadence, feature content, and HW resources are planned to minimize complexity while preserving scalability, technical debt and reuse.
      • Build and maintain an integrated software roadmap and controller/program portfolio view across multiple domains (e.g., engine, transmission, chassis, electrification, battery, body).
      • Align software roadmaps with vehicle program milestones, and release strategies across multiple cross functional/ART teams
      • Consolidate epics, features, and initiatives into coherent, long lived software streams that can serve multiple programs and regions.
      • Highlight portfolio level risks and trade offs (e.g., too many active streams, insufficient refactoring time, overlapping initiatives) and drive resolution with stakeholders.
      • Define and steward standards for software streams, lifecycle states, and release hygiene (branching, entry/exit criteria, naming, tagging, and versioning).
      • Drive complexity reduction practices and partner with tooling/CI teams so build and configuration systems enforce portfolio governance via consistent metadata, tagging, and reporting.
      • Collaborate with integration leads and DevOps/CI teams to ensure that build pipelines, build trees, and release trains align with the agreed software portfolio strategy.
      • Anticipate and mitigate complexity driven risks.
      • Facilitate & Ensure cross functional discussions that balance time to market, quality, and complexity, providing clear options and recommendations.
      • Define, track, and visualize portfolio/complexity metrics (streams, variants, resource headroom, build/test/defect trends) via standard dashboards and reports.
      • Use these insights to drive capacity planning, surface complexity hot spots, and lead improvement initiatives that reduce systemic complexity and improve portfolio health.
      • Facilitate software and integration teams on complexity aware planning (release/stream structure, variant lifecycle, and refactoring alongside new feature work).
      • Communicate clear, data driven stories to engineers and leaders and foster a culture of simplicity, reuse, and long term maintainability.

      Required Skills and Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
      • 7+ years of experience in embedded or automotive software development, integration, or architecture.
      • Solid understanding of:
      • Embedded software architecture and design principles (modularity, layering, interfaces, abstraction).
      • Version control, branching strategies, and configuration management at scale.
      • Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery / Continuous Process concepts and build pipelines.
      • Demonstrated experience operating in a portfolio or systems level role, such as:
      • Integration/feature lead, platform architect, or software lead responsible for multiple ECUs or programs.
      • Strong analytical skills with the ability to:
      • Interpret metrics and data to identify patterns and root causes.
      • Weigh trade offs among complexity, risk, schedule, cost, and quality.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to influence and align cross functional stakeholders without direct authority.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Master degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
      • PMI Agile Certified Practitioner
      • Experience AI and Advance Data Analytics.
      • Experience in automotive or other safety critical domains, with familiarity with standards such as ASPICE, ISO 26262, AUTOSAR, CMMI, or equivalent.
