What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Negotiate with vendors and purchase commodities and services in accordance with policies and procedures
- Prepare proposals for the solicitation of bids and recommend purchases of equipment, materials, and supplies
- Review vendor bids and product history for potential cost savings or contract awards
- Assist Purchasing, Accounts Payable, and Fixed Asset staff in support of daily operations
- Perform accounts payable functions, including researching and resolving billing discrepancies
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Three years of professional experience, including one year in purchasing, accounts payable, or related fields
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in procurement processes
- Valid driver's license in New Jersey if vehicle operation is necessary for essential duties
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university
- Law degree from an approved American Bar Association law school
- Experience in facilities management, operations management, or library administration
- Additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience in relevant fields
