What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Collaborate with Certified Professional Coders (CPCs) to gather documentation and support appeals for coding-related denials
- Prepare and submit appeals for denied claims, including necessary documentation
- Respond to incoming correspondence related to coding denials and ensure timely resolution
- Identify patterns in coding-related denials and escalate trends to supervisors for process improvement
- Assist with monitoring work queues and training new hires on coding and denial workflows
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school graduate or GED certificate
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a physician billing or third-party payer environment
- Ability to understand and navigate contracts, insurance benefits, and billing requirements
- Strong customer service orientation and effective communication skills
- Intermediate proficiency in computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with Epic or other electronic billing systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnosis, and procedure coding
- Previous experience in an academic healthcare setting
