What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Examine medical records to determine the proper ICD and CPT codes to be assigned
- Utilize coding tools and resources to verify the correctness of assigned codes
- Communicate with coworkers and physicians to resolve documentation discrepancies
- Maintain coding accuracy and productivity rates of ? 95%
- Participate in coder-specific training and education based on audit metrics and trends
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One or more of the following credentials REQUIRED within 12 months of employment: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-Based (CCS-P)
- Knowledge of and experience using ICD and CPT coding
- Ability to work independently and make decisions
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and process assigned duties in an organized manner
