What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct quality assurance of land cover datasets at multiple resolutions
- Assist with land cover data classification and development using various input data sources
- Compile, process, and analyze diverse data types, including imagery and elevation data in raster and vector formats
- Manage complex, automated tasks and assist with publishing and managing map services
- Develop derivative products such as maps and web applications
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Master’s degree with two years of related experience in geography, remote sensing, GIS, or related field OR a Bachelor’s degree with six years of related experience
- Experience or general knowledge of land cover mapping methods and change detection
- Familiarity with raster and vector-based datasets on desktop and web-based platforms
- Proficiency in geospatial analysis tools such as ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or similar
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Knowledge or experience in land cover classification using machine learning or advanced deep learning AI
- Experience with wetland mapping and coastal processes
- Proficiency in Python scripting for GIS task automation
- Experience in processing and managing data and map services in the cloud
- Knowledge of coastal hazards and inundation mapping
