What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review and interpret patient medical record documentation to assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes accurately
- Code complex ambulatory surgery and observation visit medical records
- Enter specified information from medical records into the electronic health record system for billing and reporting
- Communicate with physicians regarding documentation requirements and collaborate with Clinical Documentation Specialists
- Maintain current knowledge of coding and documentation changes, rules, and guidelines
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- RHIA, RHIT or CCS with at least one (1) year of current full-time ICD-10-CM & CPT-4 coding experience required
- Technically competent in navigating electronic health record applications and automated encoders
- Must be highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate coding proficiency through an on-site skills assessment with a passing score of 90% prior to hire
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Pediatric coding experience highly desired
- Experience using Microsoft Office Excel and Word
- Goal-oriented, flexible, and energetic with strong problem-solving skills
