      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Accurately code inpatient conditions and procedures using ICD Official Guidelines and UHDDS
      - Assign appropriate MS-DRG or APR-DRG for complex inpatient services
      - Review medical record documentation to identify and assign ICD CM and PCS codes
      - Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists to address documentation concerns
      - Assist in preparing responses to DRG validation requests and payer inquiries

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - AHIMA or AAPC approved Medical Coding Diploma or Health Information Management Degree
      - Minimum of three years of progressive inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility
      - Active credential of Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
      - Ability to apply medical terminology, anatomy, and surgical technology knowledge
      - Must not have been excluded from participation in federally funded programs

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Experience with electronic health record systems
      - Academic or level I or II trauma experience
      - If AAPC credential, CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder) is preferred
