What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review new and renewal mono-line commercial general liability and excess liability risks to determine acceptability for quoting and binding business
- Collaborate with appointed retail trading partners to underwrite and service accounts
- Manage assigned portfolio to achieve gross written premium, profitability, and retention goals
- Identify, solicit, negotiate, and close accounts aligned with business strategy
- Utilize underwriting tools and strategies to ensure guidelines are followed and document decisions clearly
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- 4-7+ years of experience in Specialty or standard commercial lines
- 3-4+ years of experience driving agency relationships resulting in profitable new and renewal business
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external business partners
- Ability to exercise judgment and make sound business decisions effectively based on level of authority
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Basic property underwriting experience
- Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to change and solve problems
- Experience in managing multiple concurrent projects effectively
- Knowledge of state/territory issues, regulations, and trends in the insurance market
- Familiarity with Hanover’s products and appetite
