What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review complex inpatient documentation to assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10 CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS
- Ensure compliance with official coding guidelines and federal regulations while utilizing EMR and Computer Assisted Coding software
- Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and recommendations on coding policies and procedures
- Communicate with clinicians regarding disease processes to ensure accurate coding and documentation
- Participate in payer audits and collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement and Quality teams
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Coding Certification from AAPC or AHIMA
- Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in inpatient coding within an acute care tertiary facility
- Advanced proficiency in ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

- Familiarity with electronic coding systems or applications
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in decision-making
