What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct reviews to validate diagnosis codes and procedure codes for inpatient billing
- Manage daily reports and work queues for uncoded or outstanding records
- Oversee coding corrections and ensure compliance with coding standards
- Mentor coders on coding questions and manage coding improvements
- Collaborate with the Coding Manager on education and training for coders
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of five (5) years of coding experience in an acute hospital setting
- Three (3) years of experience leading a coding team
- Proficiency in coding software and Health Information Management systems
- Knowledge of ICD10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS coding, and revenue cycle workflows
- Credentialed as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Graduate of a medical coding program or an associate degree in a healthcare-related field
- Experience with coding audits, denials management, and documentation improvement
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and surgical procedure coding
