What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract data and apply appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes, including IV infusion and injection codes
- Verify and apply HCPCS and facility-level Evaluation & Management codes for billing
- Abstract and code diagnoses and procedures from health records using appropriate classification systems
- Attend staff meetings or other company-sponsored meetings as required
- Perform additional duties as assigned, with the ability to work off hours and overtime
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or GED
- CPC, CPC-H, CIC, COS, or CCS certification
- Minimum of 3 years of experience coding using ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT codes
- Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience coding emergency or hospital ancillary services
- Expertise in pathophysiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and coding systems
- Proficiency with patient accounting systems
- Experience with Stockell InsightCS patient accounting system, EPIC Community Connect, Cerner, and/or PICIS EMR
- Knowledge of calculating and applying IV Infusion and Injection codes
