What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Write, debug, and maintain custom high-performance code in Assembler Language Code (ALC/BAL) for communications applications
- Perform advanced diagnostics, analyze system dumps and network traces to resolve communications failures
- Develop and maintain complex JCL and REXX scripts for automation and problem recovery
- Utilize advanced debugging tools and performance monitoring utilities
- Work independently on critical system failures, applying exceptional problem-solving skills
What is Required (Qualifications):
- 7+ years of direct, hands-on experience as an IBM z/OS Systems Programmer in high-volume transactional or communications environments
- Expert-level proficiency in Assembler Language Code (ALC/BAL) with experience in communications protocols (TCP/IP)
- Deep understanding of IBM z/Architecture, z/OS kernel operation, and cross-memory services
- Strong knowledge of network protocols in the mainframe context (TCP/IP)
- Experience with advanced debugging tools and performance monitoring utilities
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field
- Current IBM Systems Programmer certification for z/OS
- Familiarity with mainframe security products related to network access and channel security
