      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Perform timely and accurate preparation of City payrolls
      - Administer data entry into various benefit portals and ensure accurate employee enrollment
      - Ensure payroll compliance with Federal and State requirements; monitor new legislation and recommend policy changes
      - Serve as the City's subject matter expert on payroll interface issues and act as a liaison to IT and the payroll system provider
      - Process payroll for employees separating from service, ensuring accurate cash outs of pay and benefits

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
      - Minimum of three years of payroll/accounting experience
      - Supervisory experience preferred
      - Knowledge of payroll principles and practices, Federal and State wage and hour laws
      - Ability to apply payroll rules and regulations and interpret complex collective bargaining agreements

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Experience with governmental accounting and auditing practices
      - Familiarity with Washington State BARS accounting system
      - Skills in using computers and applicable software programs, including ERPs
      - Ability to analyze and draw conclusions from data and statistics
      - Experience in providing customer service in a payroll context
