      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Review clinical documentation to extract data and assign appropriate codes in accordance with ICD-10-CM guidelines
      - Ensure medical record documentation supports the selected codes for diagnoses and procedures
      - Enter coded information into the 3M Encoder, assigning accurate MS-DRG or APR-DRG
      - Follow up on bill holds and physician queries to ensure timely billing and proper reimbursement
      - Assist and provide guidance to coders and entry-level coders as needed

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Associate degree in health information technology or successful completion of a coding certification program
      - Coding certification required from AHIMA or AAPC
      - 3-5 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility
      - Familiarity with medical records and understanding of clinical documentation for coding
      - Proficient in using electronic medical records, encoder programs, and Microsoft Office products

      - Experience with coding validation software
      - Strong writing skills to prepare physician queries
      - Ability to research diseases and procedures online
      - Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
      - Continuous education units (CEUs) to maintain certification
