What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Serve as a staff engineer and technical specialist for the Local Agency Programs (LAP) Section
- Prepare and assemble documents for federal and state-funded transportation construction projects
- Assign projects to LAP engineering consultants and oversee project delivery to bid advertisement and letting
- Administer annual contracts for software and training programs related to transportation funding
- Provide training and guidance to consultants and local agencies statewide
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering; civil engineering preferred
- Minimum of four years of professional experience as a Transportation Engineer
- At least two years of experience equivalent to a Transportation Engineer P11 or one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 12
- Must possess a registered professional engineering license as required by the State of Michigan
- Valid driver's license required
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience working as a designer or plan reviewer on transportation projects
- Familiarity with MDOT Local Agency Safety Program or MDOT Local Agency Bridge Program
- Experience preparing and making presentations in front of large groups (50+ attendees)
- Background in public involvement and community engagement for transportation projects
