What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Process estates, bankruptcies, charity adjustments, and self-pay credit balances
- Perform court appearances and follow-ups on various accounts
- Conduct estate searches and manage documentation for final resolutions
- Collaborate with team members from other departments to ensure account accuracy
- Review accounts for Medicare bad debt adjustments and new insurance coverage
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a healthcare setting
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology and collection procedures preferred
- Ability to use tact and diplomacy in professional interactions
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Specialized courses or seminars related to collections or the medical field
- Knowledge of third-party payors, ICS-9, and CPT coding
- Demonstrated customer service and analytical skills for problem-solving
