      Position Summary:
      The Inpatient Rehab Hospital Coder works from home and is responsible for identifying correct coding and sequencing of ICD-10-CM diagnosis and comorbidity codes on the claim form and IRF-PAI for the Hospital's inpatient population.

      Responsibilities:
      • Ensures that documentation to substantiate code assignment is present in the medical record
      • Completes coding and abstracting of inpatient medical records in accordance with ICD-10 CM coding rules and guidelines
      • Queries physicians when documentation is unclear for coding purposes
      • Enters codes into the medical record and outcome system to ensure IRF-PAI and claim will submit timely.
      Minimum Education and Experience:
      • Two years of medical coding experience- IRF experience preferred
      • Medical Coding certification- CPC, CCS, CMC or equivalent
      Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
      • Strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills
      • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
      • Detail-oriented, able to meet strict time frames
