      Senior Program Officer, Content Enablement

      Summary

      The Wikimedia Foundation is looking for a Senior Program Officer, Content Enablement, to attract new contributors through the education sector and corporate and youth volunteering programs. Reporting to the Director of Content Enablement, you will partner with Wikimedia affiliates and volunteers to offer Wikipedia editing as a structured and recognised volunteering opportunity.

      In this role, you will be responsible for:

      • Securing new partnerships with organizations that facilitate structured volunteering programs.
      • Supporting Wikimedia communities and volunteers to offer training and content challenges through structured volunteering programs.
      • Developing your understanding of Wikipedia editing practices and policies and guidelines (such as Neutral point of view and Reliable sources) in order to effectively communicate the proposition to partners.
      • Using readership data and community insights to identify knowledge gaps that match volunteering organizations’ capacities and interests.
      • Understanding and communicating the needs of volunteering programs to the Product Managers delivering the Contributor Experience strategy.

      Skills and Experience:

      • Professional experience in education, youth, and/or volunteer management programs.
      • Strong facilitation skills and demonstrated ability to build community trust and alignment for both short-term experiments and longer-term collaborations.
      • Proven flair for communicating ideas, with excellent written and spoken English.
      • A proactive and flexible approach to working across departments, in a distributed and cross-cultural environment.
      • Able to connect with partners who are typically based in UTC+2 to UTC-5 timezones and make 3 international trips each year.
      • Typically requires 5+ years professional experience in addition to a Bachelor’s degree, or 3+ years experience with a Master’s degree; or equivalent work experience.

      The Wikimedia Foundation is a remote-first organization with staff members including contractors based 40+ countries*. Salaries at the Wikimedia Foundation are set in a way that is competitive, equitable, and consistent with our values and culture. The anticipated annual pay range of this position for applicants based within the United States is US$94,094 to US$142,196 with multiple individualized factors, including cost of living in the location, being the determinants of the offered pay. For applicants located outside of the US, the pay range will be adjusted to the country of hire. We neither ask for nor take into consideration the salary history of applicants. The compensation for a successful applicant will be based on their skills, experience and location.
