      Description

      The Senior Video Producer & Editor contributes to the calling of Medical Teams International by capturing, shaping, and stewarding the organization’s visual storytelling to strengthen supporter engagement. This position is responsible for producing and editing high-quality video and photo content in a variety of formats tailored for specific uses, while ensuring visual media assets are well-organized, accessible, and responsibly managed for use across marketing, fundraising, communications, and program needs.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Lead the planning, capture, editing, and production of high-quality photo and video content for use across digital, social, fundraising, donor communications, events, PR, presentations, and internal channels.
      • Produce visual content in multiple formats tailored to channel-specific needs, including short-form and vertical video for social media, longer-form storytelling for campaigns and events, interviews, testimonials, b-roll, and event coverage.
      • Lead, oversee, and update best practices for ethical storytelling, including media capture, interviewing, and consent protocols, strengthening staff capability while safeguarding. Edit and optimize photo and video assets to meet platform requirements, accessibility standards, and brand guidelines.
      • Lead the process to identify, plan and delivervisual storytelling for the brand strategy, marketing campaigns, and other fundraising efforts.
      • Oversee and direct contracted or volunteer, professional videographers and/or photographers
      • Own and maintain the organization’s photo and video asset library, ensuring consistent file naming, tagging, organization, archival practices, and accessibility.
      • Track and manage media releases, consent forms, usage rights, and expiration dates to ensure compliance with ethical storytelling standards and organizational policies.
      • Ensure media assets are securely stored, backed up, and easily searchable for internal use across teams.
      • Train and support country office Communications Officers, and field and program staff on best practices for capturing photo and video content, conducting interviews, and following consent and ethical storytelling guidelines.
      • Lead interview preparation, consent conversations, and storytelling approaches that prioritize dignity, accuracy, and participant safety.
      • Develop, implement, and share tools, workflows, and guidelines to support consistent, high-quality, and ethical media capture across programs and locations.
      • Source, prepare, and distribute approved visual assets in support of marketing, fundraising, PR and event initiatives.
      • Hire and supervise external video, photo and editing vendors, freelancers, or contractors, including contracted and volunteer professional videographers and photographers able to work in countries where Medical Teams operates that have travel restrictions.
      • Design visual assets for PR requests, executive presentations, donor-facing materials, and organizational storytelling needs.
      • Remain current on emerging technologies in digital visual communications and how they can be applied to further Medical Teams’ goals and objectives.
      • Maintain, repair and troubleshoot video and photographic equipment. Manage related inventories and, as needed, order supplies.
      • Implement strategic marketing and branding initiatives – including annual brand plans, brand positioning, communications efforts, and brand impact assessment – as applicable to visual storytelling.
      • Partner with internal stakeholders to support integrated storytelling and the supporter experience across the donor journey — ensuring visual content is accurate, ethically sourced, culturally sensitive, and aligned with brand standards and programmatic work.
      • Ensure the Safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse & Harassment, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies. Incumbents will remain alert and responsive to any child and adult safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child and adult safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Safeguarding code of conduct and behavior expectations.

      Other Duties:

      • Ensure accountability is integrated across visual media production and asset management work, including project planning and execution, ethical storytelling practices, media release and consent tracking, partner and vendor coordination, and accurate documentation and reporting.
      • Utilize volunteers when appropriate.
      • Other duties as assigned.

      Qualifications

      EDUCATION, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

      Required:

      • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field or professional experience in a relevant field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
      • Valid driver’s license
      • Valid passport

      EXPERIENCE

      Required:

      • Minimum 6 years’ professional experience in video production, editing, and/or digital asset management
      • Non-profit experience
      • Experience organizing and maintaining media libraries or cloud-based asset storage systems using strategic file naming, metadata tagging, and search optimization practices to ensure assets are easily discoverable and accessible
      • Experience using project management and creative review tools to support production workflows and collaboration.
      • Experience managing and working collaboratively with professional videographers and photographers.

      Preferred:

      • Experience working internationally, especially in hard to access areas
      • Experience with project management software (Teamworks and Asana) and creative review tools (GoVisually and Wistia) with performance dashboards for campaign tracking

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

      Knowledge:

      • Solid foundation in marketing, branding, and donor communications as they relate to visual storytelling, including how photo and video content supports campaigns, messaging frameworks, and content development across channels.
      • Understanding how visual media is used within integrated marketing strategies and tactics, including PR and media relations, advertising, events, digital, and direct response channels.
      • Strong understanding of ethical storytelling, consent, and release management, with attention to dignity, accuracy, and cultural sensitivity.
      • Familiarity with budget tracking and basic financial tools.

      Skills:

      • Skilled at directing and coaching on-camera talent with professionalism and creative clarity.
      • Strong photo and video production skills, including filming, lighting, audio capture, editing, storyboarding, and producing content in multiple formats and platforms.
      • Skilled at planning visual storytelling strategically — developing concepts, shot lists, and storyboards aligned with campaign goals and channel needs — and clearly communicate those ideas to internal partners and multiple stakeholders.
      • Skilled at editing and optimizing visual assets for channel-specific use across social, digital, fundraising, events, PR and media relations, direct response, and internal communications.
      • Proficient with photo and video editing software and cloud-based collaboration and asset management tools, including expertise in organizing, tagging, and maintaining searchable media libraries using strategic file naming, metadata, and search optimization practices.
      • Proficient in motion graphics and animation workflows using Adobe After Effects to create titles, lower thirds, and branded visual elements that enhance storytelling, clarify information, and reinforce brand consistency across digital and social platforms.
      • Skilled at training and guiding communication and marketing staff and non-technical staff in best practices for media capture, interviewing, consent processes, and storytelling approaches.
      • Skilled at managing projects from planning through delivery, meeting deadlines, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
      • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, including experience working with internal teams and external vendors.
      • Skilled in organizing complex workflows, managing competing priorities, and maintaining clear systems and documentation.
      • Ability and willingness to travel globally on a periodic basis to capture photo and video assets in field settings, working effectively across cultures and environments.
      • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
      • Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and collaboration tools (SharePoint and Teams).

      Salary Range: Please note that the typical hiring range is $90,000 - $110,000 annually. Job offers within the range are based on relevant job qualifications and pay equity.
