What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Manage the end-to-end underwriting process for Disability Insurance applications, making informed decisions based on case analysis
- Evaluate medical history, occupational risk, and financial background to determine approval or modification of applications
- Provide timely and high-quality service as a trusted underwriting partner to third-party firms and advisors
- Communicate underwriting outcomes clearly and confidently to clients and advisors
- Champion process improvements and collaborate with stakeholders to enhance underwriting practices
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 7 years of disability insurance underwriting experience
- $10K approval authority in disability insurance underwriting
- Strong command of underwriting principles and risk management controls
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree
- 8+ years of Disability Income underwriting experience
- Authority to approve cases above $15K for IDI and $20K for Business Overhead Expense
- Completion of relevant industry designations/exams such as ALU, LOMA, or FMLI
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
