What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Deploy portable counting equipment along roadways to collect data on pedestrians, bicycles, and vehicles
- Follow safety best practices while working on roadways
- Conduct data and video analysis to create metrics and reports
- Upload count data to the county's online Multimodal Counts Map using ArcGIS
- Perform routine maintenance on counting equipment
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Current enrollment or recent graduation (within 6 months) in a relevant program such as civil engineering, geography, or urban planning
- A valid driver's license
- Reliable internet connection and self-supporting hybrid office space or ability to travel to a collaborative workspace
- Ability to walk on uneven terrain, bend and stoop, and work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Willingness to commit to a full-time schedule for the internship duration
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience troubleshooting basic computer issues
- Familiarity with small tools (including a hammer and power drill)
- Proficiency in software such as Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, and AutoCAD
- Knowledge of math functions such as arithmetic, algebra, and geometry
- Strong communication skills to interact with staff at all levels
